Long-distance move from Apopka, FL to Fremont, NE

Terrible experience

I was told my belongings would be transported immediately from one home to the next, which is why they charged more for their moving service than the others I compared them to. They took over two weeks to transport my belongings and it would have been longer but I called and complained everyday; threatened to involve law enforcement and my attorney.

They insisted on packing my television, ensuring me that they prefer to package it as to make sure it would not be damaged. Upon unpacking my $125.00 television I was appalled to discover that they just threw it into a box, no measures where taken to wrap it in bubble wrap/ or anything to keep it from breaking. It was destroyed. When I filed a claim to have it replaced, they “awarded” me $3.00.

Long-distance move from Lenoir City, TN to Auburn, WA

Interstate Moving.

I had an opportunity to have service from this company. My conclusion is that they run business on deception meaning lure the customers with a lucrative offer only to be doubled or tripled at the time of loading and delivering items long after promised date.

I signed up with them on telephone when I could not turn down an offer of $8000. to move my household items and a car from Tennessee to Washington state. They jacked the estimate to $16000. at loading time saying I have too many boxes. They never sent a driver to pick up my car although it was in the contract first time. They delivered my items 5 weeks after their first promised date. I called the company customer service, sent message to service rep, sent text message and emails but they only responded once in the beginning to let me know my stuff in the warehouse. No mention about delivery date. We had a horrible time in the empty home for more than 5 weeks.

I would not expect my stuff even after 5 weeks if I would not complain to Better Business Bureau in Chicago. I hope people would definitely straighten things with this company before they sign up.

Long-distance move from Denver, CO to Des Moines, IA

Moving.

Alliance was wonderful to work with! They made moving less of a hassle to where I could focus on other details of starting my life in a new place. I would highly recommend them to any one looking for a professional moving service! They were very thorough and careful with my furniture and especially my belongings that are breakable. I was a little nervous as this was my first big move but they took a lot of the stress away which allowed me to actually enjoy the experience. Great Job!

Long-distance move from Atlanta, GA to Palm Springs, CA

Damage to my home.

The mover damaged my laminate flooring when he slid the sofa to turn it on its side. Contacting these people is next to impossible.I have both called and emailed with no response. The damage to my floor is significant and with my condo under contract to sell, it could be a game changer.
I also tried for four days last week to contact someone and when I finally did was told someone would be calling me. They did 3 days later to give me a pickup date.
the mover Amhad is very efficient but it was the other guy who did the damage.

Long-distance move from Keene, NH to Oshkosh, WI

Belongings impounded by state cops sub-contracted my move.

We were quoted $5100 dollars by Alliance Movers Inc. for relocating 108 items from New Hampshire to Wisconsin. We decided to add an additional unused gas dryer onto the quote. They re-quoted us at $6058 for everything. We realized that donating appliances would save so we eliminated 2 microwaves, washer/2 dryers, and a TV from the list of things going on the truck. The estimator(Lee) assured us he'd added a buffer such that there was no possibility we would exceed the estimated number--this estimate was on par with other moving quotes. Queue moving day. Movers are dismantling furniture and taking inventory of every single slat or leg they remove by placing stickers on each bundle of dismantled parts they wrapped together; headboard vs foot board of a bed, even brooms and furniture cushions. They take care to wrap things to protect it all. The Penske truck they pulled into my driveway rather than the 53' semi we were expecting, was filled halfway when the foreman told me they were finished with the house and there was extra room left in the 1275 cu ft quoted. They still had the grill, smoker, 5 piece patio set, propane heater, push mower, and bicycles they'd forgotten. However once they were done I was presented with a bill for 2,450 cu ft, doubling the estimate to $11,917. I was floored and called customer service to get some clarity. They started with "what do you want us to do, take a loss?" I explained I wanted to know why the estimate was not reasonably accurate. They followed with "the total is for 144 items not the original 109 quoted". I tried explaining the discrepancy was due to the fact that they were putting multiple stickers on singularly quoted items because they wanted to keep track of all the pieces they were dismantling. I said I understood the practice but that shouldn't increase the cubic feet requirement because the total piece inventory number was still the same. I questioned the cubic feet calculation of the truck because it was not a company truck, and I asked for dimensions to verify. I was given the run around as they explained they thought I'd like the bigger truck and it was done out of kindness because I was a woman by myself and they believed I might want extra room for breakable lamps that might not have been packaged well. I didn't understand the tangent or the assertion that it was a bigger truck considering it wasn't a semi. But I explained that I'd been very careful when packaging and had I wanted a special truck I would have requested it. It still didn't explain why less items than quoted was taking up twice as much room. They then asked for a picture from the foreman and came back with a charge for 2,200 cu ft rather then the 2,450 cu ft. I called my husband who arranged the move so that he might better explain the quote included several large volume items that weren't even on the truck even with the adjustment, the bill was still suspect against the estimate. The customer service rep told him that this was an issue because the bill of lading specified a certain weight and the company would be charged 10k if there were issues with the bill of lading. They downed it to $9200 for the total cost which equates to 1,937 cubic feet of volume at the given price of $4.75 /cu ft. This was still 151% of the estimated quote And they also said it would be $6000 to unload the truck and be done with them. Yesterday we got a call from the Massachusetts state police saying the truck had been impounded because they could not verify that the movers were legitimate due to paperwork discrepancies. The police provided the license plate of the truck and confirmed that only our belongings were on it. With the license plate from the truck we were able to contact Penske who confirmed it was a 26 ft. truck with a full load volume of 1,665 cu ft, while the driver and company were claiming our furniture was taking up 1937 cu ft which we now know is a physical impossibility..they are denying it was a Penske truck now!

Long-distance move from San Francisco, CA to Denver, CO

Stress-free service!

I've worked with a few long distance movers, and this was the best experience I've had by far. Everyone was very professional and polite, and most importantly, my things arrived on time, in the condition I left them, and for the price I was promised. They did a great job communicating every step of the way, so I never had to worry about where my stuff was and when it would meet me on the other end. Anyone who has ever experienced a *bad* long-distance move knows how important that is! I will definitely be using this company again.

Pleasure Working With You.

I’m from Illinois and I recently got word my company was relocating to Tennessee. I’ve never been to Tennessee not ever left my hometown. It was an opportunity I could not pass up on for work so I accepted the position. I began my search for movers online. I visited many websites as well as the BBB. I came across Alliance and I liked everything I saw

Instead of filling out forms and getting bombarded with calls I just contacted them direct. We went room by room and I began listing off my items. We discussed packing options as I elected to pack the boxes myself. Every time I had a question my sales person was willing to explain slowly and in detail and I appreciated that a lot. When the movers showed up I had all the boxes ready for pickup and they began breaking down furniture and loading the truck. It took them about 4 hours and they were on the road.

The movers showed up st my new home and began placing boxes and furniture in the rooms I designated. There were no hidden charges and nothing was missing. It was a pleasant move and I’m happy I got to meet some new people and get such a high level of service. I’m also glad I took the extra time to do things the right way and do business with an honest company. Great job.

Long-distance move from Birmingham, AL to San Diego, CA

Movers get A+ Customer Service gets F- Deceptive Sales.

Do NOT fall for the "we own all of out trucks, all movers work for us" sales line. A 3rd party subcontractor in a rented truck showed up as a "shuttle" service.

Do NOT fall for the "last on/first off" fee. It doesn't mean jack.

Do NOT attempt to contact dispatch unit. They will not answer the phone and will not return your calls.

When I attempted to get a fee waived due to the above issues, the manager refused to concede even the subcontractors. NO customer service skills at all. I told him I had 3 family members planning cross-country moves that I'd be taking elsewhere, he cared less - "it won't hurt us. We're busy". THAT says it all!

Their 5* internet rating is B.S. with a capital B.

Long-distance move from Dallas, TX to Pierre, SD

Interstate Move.

The Positives:
- I was able to secure a mover on a tighter than normal time frame.
- They gave me a 2 hour window, called in the middle saying they were running behind, and showed up about 30 mins late.

The Negatives:
- They use contractors and rented trucks (Penske truck showed up at my apartment)

- The contractors will try to charge you far more than necessary. Your person on the phone will tell you that packing materials for all of your goods will be included. The foreman tried to charge me $250 in packing materials while at my home.

- Some of the foreman (specifically the one I worked with) are pretty shady, don't make my mistake and read through all of the charges completely. I was charged $350 for a long carry even though the loading area for my first floor apartment is only 40 feet from my door (The first 50 feet are included).

- Customer service is non-existant. I'm trying to resolve the above issue, have called 5 times on five separate days, left two messages, and have not received a call back.

Overall Recommendation: If you're short on time, enjoy haggling, and are prepared for an unprofessional experience, these are your movers.

If you don't want to deal with any of that. Go with one of the major van lines and get a free in home estimate.

Did it all!

Alliance Moving did it all! We didn’t have to do a single thing except let the movers in the front door. We got a call a couple days before to confirm our pickup and when they showed up they took apart and wrapped all our furniture and hand packed each box. It was easy to keep track of all the items because of the color coding and numbering. It was the best deal out of all the moving companies we spoke to. Great credentials, high ratings and excellent customer feedback. We are first time Movers that are very new to the moving process but Alliance helped us get from point A to point B smoothly. Great company.
